Let us immediately note that all 45 nm shanghai processors will have the socket F (1207) and support dual-channel DDR-2 memory (note those processors has hyperTransport 1.0 @ 2 Ghz ) . In the second quarter 2009 ,AMD will release processors with hyperTransport 3.0 , working at 4.4 GHz frequency . In order to distinguish those models it is possible to check the model number, for example, opteron 8385 or Opteron 8383.
The frequency of shanghai processors will no go above the 2.7 GHz until February 2009, when models with 2.8 GHz frequency will appear. ACP Level for opteron 8386 SE (2.8 GHz) and Opteron 2386 SE (2.8 GHz) processors will be equal to 105 W. Processors with frequency up to 2.7 GHz can be satisfied by ACPlevel not more than 75 W.
In February 2009 , AMD will announce shanghai processors with ACP level not more than 55 W. They will work at 2.1-2.3 GHz frequencies, and satisfied by hyperTransport 1.0 bus . All shanghai processors will have 6 mb cache in the third level, divided between the cores.
With the release of shanghai processors , AMD company intends to return for the server chipset market . The chipset for single-processor systems SR5580 released in the middle of September, and chipset SR5670 and SR5690 for the two- and 8 socket servers will be released in the second quarter 2009. In the second half-year , AMD will release the 45 nm processors istanbul with six core on one crystal, which will preserve the socket F and DDR-2 support. In first half 2010 , AMD will release socket g34 processors , which support DDR- 3 and HyperTransport 3.0. The six-core processors of this generation are known under the code name sao paulo, 12 core version : Magny-Cours.
