Intel chipset x38, proposes a valuable crossfire support : PCI express x16 + PCI express x16, But here many users manifests interest in chipset Intel p35, since many motherboards on its base are equipped with video card two slots : PCI express x16 + PCI express x4. According to the preliminary data, Intel p35 chipset will also support crossfire as Intel p965, today we succeeded in confirming these guesses. Associates compared the effectiveness of two video card radeon HD 2900 XT in crossFire regime under the 64-bit version Windows vista using chipset Intel 975X and Intel p35 . Intel p965 in its time had lower crossfire effectiveness than chipset Intel 975X ( from 3% to 9% ). This was caused by the need for data transmission through DMI interface , which connects north and south bridges, and has the limited capacity - 1 Gb/s in each of two directions. We note also , the same capacity of the second slot in P965 ( PCI express x4 ) . Even if south bridge allow to realize support of the valuable slot PCI express x16 or PCI express x8, interface DMI would become bottleneck. The chipset Intel p35 did not change the situation to the best side. Video card remained as before (as Intel P965), interface DMI has also the same capacity. i975X chipsets support PCI express x8 + PCI express x8 using the northern bridge; therefore DMI interface in this case does not influence the crossfire speed regime . Even BIOS optimization in motherboard asus on base of chipset Intel p35 cannot overcome the DMI problem . The heavier graphic regime, result in greater break between Intel 975X Intel p35. Consequently, selecting Intel p35 as Crossfire platform , you will result in some speed losses in comparison with i975X. Exactly for this reason , crossfire support program using chipset Intel p965 was forbidden . Now this problem is not so urgent, new video card on AMD chips use flexible bridges for data exchange in regime crossfire. However, video card radeon HD 2600 Pro can be deprived from this possibility , But Radeon HD 2400 XT has the corresponding bridges . ... Related Products : | ||
