The business of releasing "customized" solutions for Sony and Microsoft gaming consoles supported AMD in the last year. In fact, Sony is the largest client of the company, but at the JPMorgan event AMD head Lisa Su got the courage to say that in the coming years such orders will stop moving the company's revenue up. At least from gaming consoles, such support is no longer to be expected - at least for the reason that they enter the fifth year of the life cycle, when demand decreases.
But the head of AMD unexpectedly marked the scope of the new product manufactured by contractors of the company to order for an outside client. This contract will begin to bring AMD revenue from 2018, and the corresponding product will be used in the embedded solutions segment. That is, it's definitely not a gaming console.
In general, in the course of his communication with the host of the event JPMorgan, the head of AMD recognized that not all initiatives of the company had success in the past.
