We already reported yesterday the speed result of 45 nm Deneb processor and its frequency potential ( 3.44 GHz ) . Super PI 1M result was 20,515 seconds. The owners of the engineering model deneb  was able to raise frequency up to 3484 MHz. The cooling type was not mentioned. In this case the AMD processor was able to execute the 1 MB super pi Test in sub 20 seconds. Actually, at the frequency of approximately 3.5 GHz the processor deneb execute this test in 19,969 seconds. We can feel the advantage Of deneb over 65 nm  predecessor. For example in order to reach the result  21,63 seconds the processor phenom X4 9850  was overclocked to 3621 MHz. The processor deneb comes out better at lower frequency. Consequently, increase in  speed with the equal frequencies will occur. Related Products :

Good news for AMD, but still not nearly enough to compete even with Penryn,not to mention Nehalem.AMD is way behind INTEL and without metal gates i doubt they stand a chance in even matching INTEL.They are saying metal gates will be introduced at 32nm node,but that will be 2010 at best,way too late.I have no ideea why are things moving so slow at AMD,but things look bad for them in the near future.If they do not move faster they will loose the confidence of the few supporters they still have.

Let\'s point out a bit optimistic and perhaps not even realistic scenario from Amd\'s point of view. Amd already has some gpu cpu combinations. They also have the upcoming bulldozer which they claimed to be the fastest processor ever. If this is true, they still might have a real problem while most programs can\'t benefit from multiple cores or they are not optimized for parallel computing. So, what should they do? Amd is way too small player in business to dictate how programs should be made. If multi tasking is not going to be the essential part of the mainstream programming skills, then there is no markets for Amd\'s great processors (if they exist, or are reasonably soon available). One solution might be to let powerful competitor make all the pre work required. This is exactly what Intel is doing right now. If Amd has an ace up its sleeve, they surely should wait and hope Intel has not such a cutting edge technology of its own. Perhaps all this is just a fan boy wet dream, but if Amd has the technology which is efective for parallel computing, this strategy is perhaps the only possible one there is and Amd knows it.

3.5ghz is a pretty good result. altough the superPI benchmark might seem a bad result its no reliable benchmark since it takes advantage of high caches and not of true quad processing power. also i want to remind you intel has always been faster in superPI even when amd\'s athlons were proven to be better in de pentium 4 days. but i doubt the 45nm deneb will be as fast as intels nehalems.my best guess is there strategy is like there graphics line up. first 2900xt-Phenom65nm not finished-some flaws second 38xx-deneb45nm good price/preformance fixed flaws Q4 2008. 48xx-highK model assumed hydra good competition for the second gen nehalem Q2 2009.

	Any body here heard of socket G34? Amd is pouring its resources into getting that right, an expected 12 cores with an architecture that spreads the workload by design, no wonder AMD seems to not be too worried about their current and near future chips. There is a reason that the chip is code named BULLDOZER!
