TSMC company flashed in the news as a possible buyer of Toshiba business for the production of solid-state memory, then quickly dropped out of this race. Now, according to the DigiTimes website, referring to the Chinese media quoted by the technical director of TSMC, the semiconductor giant is going to master the production of promising memory chips.
The company will begin pilot production of eMRAM chips in 2018, and the release of eRRAM will be mastered a year later. To produce this memory, TSMC uses a 22-nm process technology. To a certain extent, the arrival of TSMC in the memory manufacturing segment of these types is a work in the future, as the relevant chips can find application in the "Internet of things" segment, automotive electronics and mobile devices. The leader in the production of MRAM is now Samsung.
