According to the authors of the site Fudzilla, AMD is preparing three versions of connectors for server processors Opteron cores on Zen architecture. More precisely, removable is only one version of processors with the most cores, while the two other options - a contact group for the BGA soldering on the motherboard.
Younger AMD Opteron processor cores developed by Zen codenamed Snowy Owl (polar or white owl). Processors with four and eight cores Zen will go by SP4 r2 BGA. Snowy Owl processors with 8, 12 and 16 cores Zen will be issued with a connector SP4 BGA. Last per socket is compatible with SP4 r2 BGA, but processors will differ, possibly physical size and mounting location for the cooling systems. It is also likely that it will use a different form factor motherboards.
Older processors Zen nuclei with the number of cores 16, 24 and 32, which were previously presented informally named Naples You, will have "exclusive" removable connector SP3. All three processors are expected by mid-2017. Initially, AMD will release processors with Zen-core to the consumer market.
